Temporomandibular Disorder

Could your jaw pain be related to your neck?

At least 50% of the population will experience jaw pain, also known as Temporomandibular Dysfunction (TMD), once in their lifetime.

While we know that stress and trauma may be responsible for causing joint pain, the neck muscles and joints may also play a role.

Did you know that the nerves supplying the face and jaw also supply the neck? What this means is that if there is something wrong with your neck, then you may in fact feel that the problem is in your jaw.

The research tells us that this condition is often a neuromuscular control issue, which means that it is to do with the co-ordination and timing of muscle function.

This is where Connect Healthcare can intervene! How can we help?

  • Comprehensive examination and recording to identify any dysfunctional areas
  • Gentle manual treatment to the jaw, neck and/or other affected regions
